Darwin’s theory of Evolution called the Natural Selection
which was first formulated in Darwin’s book in 1859. Evolution by natural
selection is one of the best sustained theories in the history of science. This
theory involves a wide variety of paleontology, geology, genetics and developmental
biology. Darwin did not develop his theory completely on his own; he was
influenced by the ideas of earlier thinkers. One of these earlier thinkers that
influenced Darwin’s theory was Charles Lyell. Charles Lyell was a well-known
English geologist. In Lyell’s book Principles of Geology, Lyell argued that gradual
geological processes have gradually shaped Earth’s surface. From this
statement, Lyell inferred that Earth must certainly be for older than later
influenced Darwin’s theory of Evolution.
